hi
I am reporting here a bug, which is also discussed in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=299906
I have a USB memory stick; when I bought it,
(before I used cfdisk), the usb stick was 'partionless' :
/dev/sda itself was one big fat partition
then I used cfdisk to create partitions in it:
I have created one partition on it, and formatted it to ext2;
the current layout is
# fdisk -l /dev/sda
Disk /dev/sda: 130 MB, 130809856 bytes
5 heads, 50 sectors/track, 1021 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 250 * 512 = 128000 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 1021 127600 83 Linux
output of fdisk Expert command (m for help): p
Disk /dev/sda: 5 heads, 50 sectors, 1021 cylinders
Nr AF Hd Sec Cyl Hd Sec Cyl Start Size ID
1 00 1 1 0 4 50 1020 50 255200 83
2 00 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 00
3 00 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 00
4 00 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 00
this scheme works fine for me : when I plug it in , the combination of
udev/hal/pmount/nautilus
mounts my partition and shows it in a nice nautilus window
then I wanted to use parted to resize my partition
(to make room for a second crypto partition )
But if I try to use parted on it, I get this
# parted /dev/sda
GNU Parted 1.6.21 with HFS shrink patch 16
.....
Using /dev/scsi/host1/bus0/target0/lun0/disc
(parted) print
Disk geometry for /dev/scsi/host1/bus0/target0/lun0/disc: 0.000-124.750
megabytes
Disk label type: loop
Minor Start End Filesystem Flags
1 0.000 124.750 fat16
so parted thinks my partition is fat16 (and I cannot resize it)
a.
