sorry, i meant in general.  i dont expect the full release process for alphas.

i thought the simple algo of "if the lines in the source file being checked do 
not use CRLFs but the hunk does, strip CRLFs" hit all the common use cases.  
or did i miss something in that thread ?

from a distribution pov, this just pushes the work on us (unnecessarily imo).  
we have to manually add --binary when it is needed.
