That's a possible translation. Another possibility would be '%s: Functie
%s is mislukt' (my Dutch is not perfect, so I may be wrong). 

I must admit that this is rather tar bug, not translator's. The original
message is: `%s: Cannot %s', where the second %s gets replaced with the
function name, e.g. open, seek, close, mkdir, etc. Surely that should
be fixed in tar.

By the way, in the recent version of tar.pot, the entry in question is
marked with the following comment: 

#. TRANSLATORS: %s after `Cannot' is a function name, e.g. `Cannot open'.
#. Directly translating this to another language will not work, first because
#. %s itself is not translated.
#. Translate it as `%s: Function %s failed'.

which should give translator a hint on how to better translate it.
