Thanks, that's due to a known deficiency in older versions of AIX;
where getcwd fails if an ancestor directory isn't readable, and there
is no implementation of the openat functions. The problem should be
fixed in AIX 7. Most likely you don't need to worry about this
anyway, as you probably don't run 'tar' in directories whose
ancestors are not readable.
