Also I notice that your example 9.10 doesn't actually say what DOM implementation it's using ... it might be a good idea to System.out.println (document.getClass ().getName ()) to show what was going on.
I did print out the factory and parser class names, though that may not be shown in the example in the book right now. Is there any chance gnu.xml.dom.JAXPBuilder could have built something other than a gnu.xml.dom.Whatever?
Originally, the gnujaxp.jar file I got from the web site would not work at all, and I had to build one from the sources. That's curious. So far there's only been the one "release", so if you got a copy from the website, that was it!
This was before the beta 1 release. -- +-----------------------+------------------------+-------------------+ | Elliotte Rusty Harold | address@hidden | Writer/Programmer | +-----------------------+------------------------+-------------------+ | The XML Bible, 2nd Edition (Hungry Minds, 2001) | | http://www.ibiblio.org/xml/books/bible2/ | | http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=0764547607/cafeaulaitA/ | +----------------------------------+---------------------------------+ | Read Cafe au Lait for Java News: http://www.cafeaulait.org/ | | Read Cafe con Leche for XML News: http://www.ibiblio.org/xml/ | +----------------------------------+---------------------------------+
