Hi Jeremiah,

Thanks for getting back to me.

A lot of work yes, but not as much as starting from nothing *grin*

We were planning to do the developnent work ourselves, making it
obvious that the editor was Denemo, and making the source available as
well.

Would you be ok with that?

Mike

I don't have the time to do any kind of developement like that.

I think the gpl will allow you to do such a thing but for sure you
cound not distribute it unless it had the source code distributed also.

I am not againt people profiting off denemo in any way. What you
suggest sounds like a great deal of work.

Nothing wrong with it at all, it's very good; we wouldn't be
interested in integrating anything that wasn't.
We're looking for something that is, or can be cut down to be, very
focussed on score editing. There are some Denemo functions that are
already in REAPER, playing MIDI files for instance, that ideally
wouldn't be visible or available whilst it was running as a score
editor in REAPER.

I didn't think to say so before - but I I don't work for Cockos, the
people who produce REAPER, or have any connection with them except
that I run their s/w and I'm active on the discussion forums.
There's no commercial motive in approaching you.

Mike

Maybe I am missing something but what is wrong with denemo as it is?

Hi Jeremiah,

I'm Mike Lacey from the UK. I'm a REAPER user, REAPER's a DAW
produced by Cockos Inc.

Sorry to approach you without a proper introduction.

Myself and a few other users are exploring the idea of adding a
score editor to REAPER. Very early stages - the discussion is here
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=47259

Would you be open to a discussion about an Open Source add-in to
REAPER based on Denemo or on a portion of Denemo?

If you're interested, or if you just might be interested, browse
through the discussion thread above, give me a call if you wish (my
timezone is GMT), feel free to join in the discussion.

Just let me know if it's not something you want to happen or be
involved with.

Regards,

Mike
