that would be the pdf backend for evince, so that in that case LilyPond
has run and generated a pdf but evince wasn't able to load the generated
pdf file. You may well be right, it would be necessary to see the
messages on the terminal to find out what has happened (or use some
search to find a recently created pdf file and look at that)
