That was *precisely* the point of my question. Doesn't merely having the
capability also put the DSP-10 and the current Ten-Tec rigs beyond the
pale? Perhaps the latest WinRadios as well?
yes, apparently. for some u.s. laws/regulations you don't need both the
hardware and the software together to qualify as a violator: either one
will do. again, it's unlikely to be enforced against you, but it's out
there....
interestingly, government users are Winradio's biggest customers. they use
proprietary software, of course.
here's another interesting piece of hardware and software that qualifies
the possessor as a violator. doubtful this swiss company could do much
business in the usa with non-govt customers. notice their source code is
for sale..."to official government bodies only."
