It means that GNUstep apps will work with GNOME or KDE -- that having KDE
or GNOME running won't cause GNUstep apps to go off into the weeds or
decide to eat your hard drive for lunch. That is, it has no special
support for GNOME.

That having been said, there is some support for ".desktop" files, in that
GNUstep app wrappers have some information for GNOME or KDE to use in
generating desktop icons.

By the way, there is no such thing as an X11 theme.
