Some documentation is under the GFDL it it's specifically stated in the
file itself. Otherwise, if it's not in the file it is under the GPL.
There is some opposition to the GFDL license so I'm not really willing
to make it a policy right now

If it is easier for you to keep it updated from your site, that is
probably good. Both licenses allow you to make changes and redistribute
them, but you should keep the same license as the original file.
