different package, and ideally Books would need only the core
libs. Why not implement NSXMLParser on GNUStep? Then perhaps the Books
developer could switch to NSXMLParser from CF, and there would be no
need for awkward wrappers on his end.

Sounds like the best option to me. NSXMLParser looks something like a SAX style parser and could probably be implemented as a wrapper round GSXML (though GSXML might need some minor extensions for this), which already provides a similar API.

Anyone interested in doing this?
