Yeah, I see that now. Sorry to waste all of you time, I see now that this project has no future, the last thing the Open Source world needs is another development environment. I will continue to search the web for usable GNUstep applications or whatever I should call them since GNUstep is not supposed to have any applications. I'll stay off of this mailing list as best I can, but I am going to have to keep using the apps-gnustep list because that is the only place to get or give any advice on getting apps to run. I will do my best not to bother you GOD-LIKE develpers again.

Sorry, but there's no reason to to leave in a huff. I don't get the feeling somebody wanted to offend you (at least not on purpose). Let me explain: GNUstep historically has only very limited developer ressources and so it's perfectly o.k. to focus onto the most reasonable goal: Create an environment (API, Frameworks, toolkit, developer apps etc.) which enables others to port their (already existing) OpenStep/Cocoa apps to other plattforms using GNUstep (and so make them GNUstep apps in the process). There are plenty free and open source Cocoa apps out there:

http://mac.freshmeat.net/search/?Go.x=1&Go.y=1&q=cocoa&section=projects
http://sourceforge.net/search/? type_of_search=soft&words=cocoa&search=Search
http://code.google.com/query/#q=cocoa

waiting to be ported. Some of them might be hard to port (since they depend on some frameworks currently only available on the Mac) others might be easier. However, just to simplify porting of such apps GNUstep aims for Cocoa compatibility. The goal definitely isn't to build a Mac clone, the end justifies the means here (otherwise we could create something completely orthogonal to OpenStep/Cocoa and call this GNUstep).

You mentioned that having an article in the Linux Journal would be great. Nice idea! This is something that doesn't require developing skills (but some skills in writing). Maybe even you could do that.

It's just not the case that everybody here is sitting around not knowing what to do and waiting for instructions. Most of us are already quite busily involved into advancing GNUstep, and most of us got a day job too we have to justify, so the ressources are limited.

But I really appreciate your enthusiasm (and I think, others do as well). We surely didn't want to alieniate you. Sit back, relax and think about more realistic goals to achieve (trying to turn everybody here into developing applications isn't one), we then surely can find effective ways to cooperate.

Sorry My-Bad

No need for such drama!

regards,

        Lars

Wrong address, Sir. We're all GNUstep fans here already.
