Closing the issue without any message or reference to the fix was indeed rude.

AFAIK all messages you post even after the issue has been closed still notifies people following the issue (@eldy in this case).

Keep in mind we are all working on a voluntary basis so answers can take a while.

Still looking forward to your contributions anyway :)
