[DotGNU]Summary of WG Meeting

From: Chris Smith
Subject: [DotGNU]Summary of WG Meeting

Various aspects of Working Groups were discussed, and the current lack of
filled posts.

The Foundation Code is currently the most active area of work within dotGNU
and does not have a WG Leader. Through some arm-twisting, ajmitch agreed to
try and stand in as the Foundation Code Working Group 'representative' until
someone more suitable steps up for the task.

It was thought that one of the Weekend Warriors would be the most suitable
candidate for the Foundation Code Working Group Leader. We leave it to them.

Some 'weekly' activities of the Working Group Leaders were identified (with
the hope of demonstrating that there's probably not much work involved):

1. Know what their group is doing
2. Keep tabs on progress by making sure key tasks are on track to be
completed on time.
3. Attend weekly meetings (or send a representative) to swap stories of
progress/horrors...

It was obvious that more WG leaders were required, and that some WG's would
have to be designated 'inactive'.

Weekly meetings for WG Leaders were proposed as 1100UTC Saturday (right after
dotgnu meets, on channel #dotgnu-wg.

Some areas of DotGNU were also discussed:

Various aspects of gune and gcomm (gnu-rpc) with respect to dotGNU.
Metawrap came up, and is eagerly awaited. Some philosophical thoughts were
voiced. From this came the following:

1. To try and promote that DotGNU is not .NET (or Mono for that matter).
2. That GNU-RPS is the standard communication mechanism within dotGNU.
