GTK version checked in.

Hello.

I've checked in the GTK version.
I could not figure out the structure of the NEWS file, so if someone
can explain it, I'll add something there also.

Some bugs fixed, external tool bar is in.

The documentation has been reworked, so I'd be greatful for comments on it.
