Can't it do that now, with --alternate-editor and emacsclientw.exe on Windows?
Most, except...
The only thing left is fixing the edge case where "emacsclient
--alternate-editor emacs" exits immediately, which causes problems for
programs that use emacsclient as an external editor.
...this.
AFAICT gnuclient also has this same problem.
There are quite a few gnuclient versions out there. The one from
Lennart's page does not present this problem.
IMHO this should wait until after release,
because there are significant changes needed, see David Kastrup's most
recent posts.
In all truth, I took just a cursory look on David's "fix", but it
seemed a bit of handwaving to me, particularly (as Stefan as already
said) on the "detach" part, which is the biggest difficulty in
Lennart's work so far. So: patches welcome.
