I think it's quite simple if you do as Dieter suggested i.e give a link to
Tumme from the (emacs)File Convenience paragraph to the Thumbnails description
and explain that Tumme is more extensive,

Yes, that's a good way to ensure no-one finds out about it.  If you consider a
five line description of a package excessive, you might as well remove it,
which is a shame as it's never been included in a release.
