    I don't know generally, and it's difficult to tell how much garbage it
    keeps around indirectly.  It can hold quite a lot from repeated
    evaluations, e.g. from many trips round a loop in the debugger.

It appears that only explicit user evaluation commands add to values.
So I don't see how the debugger is particularly likely to get you
lots and lots of these--not without your knowing it, that is.
