Indeed, actual key bindings override `function-key-map' and thus
may alter the key sequence that `key-translation-map' receives.
Clearly, it is better to avoid to avoid this type of situation.
clearly suggests that one should not rely on this as a "feature".
It is kind of difficult to say _what_ not to do, without saying what
the problem is.
