I guess, by your answer, that fringe-mode, like tool-bar-mode, affects
default-frame-alist (my issue #2) - otherwise there would be no pb (if it
affected only the selected frame).
Why would one way of changing default-frame-alist be any different from
another? I would think that the last change would rule, however it was
effected.
If a user defines default-frame-alist to not have fringe, but subsequently
turns on fringe-mode, wouldn't that be the same as doing the same thing for,
say tool-bar mode? Doesn't it just mean that he's changed his mind?
