As mule-cmds.el in CVS repository doesn't contain such a
line as "<<<<<<<", it seems that you had a locally modified
version of mule-cmds.el and "cvs update" couldn't apply a
new patch because of confliction. If your local
modification is not important, just delete mule-cmds.el and
"cvs update" again will solve the problem.
