doc strings that are too long

From: Drew Adams
Subject: doc strings that are too long
Date: Mon, 21 Nov 2005 09:26:45 -0800

The doc strings for the following functions and variables are too wide. Many
are FAR too wide; some are not too bad (but still over 80 columns).

The problem often (e.g. for *-mode functions) is that they should have
\\<some-mode-map> before the occurrences of \\[some-function]. This problem
doesn't appear, of course, if you only display the doc string when you are
in that mode, but the doc string should always appear correctly, no matter
where it is accessed from.

In other cases, such as quail-define-package, the (fn ...) at the end is
just too wide (232 columns wide! in the case of quail-define-package)
