But it's there again in my own, self compiled Carbon Emacs 22.0.50,
that uses the same sources (except some minor C code differences) as
the X client one. And the same compiler switches ? it could be just a
question of optimisation flags!
That is a rare occurrence but it is not impossible. It can happen
that C code's meaning changes depending on optimizations, and compiler
bugs can also happen.
To track down such a bug requires the same methods as tracking down an
ordinary bug: you have to localize the code that works wrong when
compiled a certain way.
