That is a rare occurrence but it is not impossible. It can happen
that C code's meaning changes depending on optimizations, and compiler
bugs can also happen.
After the last update from CVS I configured for no optimisation (-O0)
and for not stripping (supposed) dead code. Now I seem to have three
different personalities when I invoke
1. src/emacs or src/emacs-22.0.50.1 from emacs directory
2. /usr/local/bin/emacs fron anywhere
3. /usr/local/bin/emacs-22.0.50 from anywhere
The behaviour differs in opening UTF-8 encoded files and in handling
calendar.
