Do you have any of this in your .emacs file:

(require 'planner-diary)
(add-hook 'diary-display-hook 'fancy-diary-display)
(setq planner-diary-number-of-diary-entries 7)
(setq mark-diary-entries-in-calendar t)
(setq planner-diary-use-diary t)
(planner-insinuate-diary)
(planner-insinuate-calendar)
