I don't really know. I do know that Emacs can now show truetype fonts, but
I don't think there are any plans to implement opentype lookups. Do you
think that would be feasible ? I'm a regular Emacs user, but I know next
to nothing about it's internals. I would love to have Bengali support in
it though.
AFAIK, the Emacs Devanagari support (in MULE) is via some Emacs specific
hack. I don't think something like that is worth the effort, as it would
depend on specially encoded fonts and who knows what else.
