Hi all,
Please vote for the following.
This project is advanced enough for us to book the domain names.
Here is the present situation:
1) "freecats"
www.freecats.com - bought by an e-speculator with no site behind:
$300 buys this domain buy it today, it won't last.
Buy this domain now, $300 (Based on availability)
23852 pch #720
malibu, California 90265
US
Expiration Date: 01-oct-2003
www.freecats.net, www.freecats.org - available
2) "free-cats"
www.free-cats.com, www.free-cats.net, www.free-cats.org - available
I can afford to do buy a few of them in my own name, but it's a bit too much
for the 5 ones.
Please let me know if you prefer with (free-cats) or without (freecats)
hyphen.
As far as I've seen, lots of free projects use a .org and/or a .net domain
name, for instance:
Apache
free software project: apache.org
(apache.net is used by a web agency, apache.com is used by a Linux hardware
OEM manufacturer)
Python
free software project: python.org
(python.com is used for a dull cybersquatting site, python.net has been
bought and is unused)
PHP
free software project: php.net
(php.com is another real stuff, php.org has been bought to a PHP-related
proprietary software editor)
My point of view
I would probably do like Apache and Python - get freecats.org and be happy
with it.
We might instead decide to also take the .com side into account, and buy
free-cats.org and free-cats.com instead if ever we think we might need it:
<easy joke>
launching a large corporation with a double license product.
</easy joke>
What does each of you think of it?
Regards,
Henri
