Bounding box calc without autohinting erroneous?

Hi all,

 

I turn of AutoHinting when rendering smaller characters ( < 28 point @ 72 device resolution),

which maskes the character a bit fatter.

But when i calc the bounding box (see attachment) it returns as if it were autohinted.

 

Is this a known issue?
