Hello,
The CVS transfer is now completed, and the IP address of
cvs.freetype.org has been changed from 195.154.213.65 to
193.251.34.63.
in order to avoid problems during the propagation of the
IP address change throughout DNS servers, the old CVS
server is still up and running, but doesn't provide
write access. Anonymous CVS access is thus still
available..
For those with write access, it's possible to use the
new server, right now with two methods:
- use the address "ftp.freetype.org" instead of
"cvs.freetype.org" in your CVSROOT. Login
to the server, check out the module you want to
modify, apply your changes, then commit..
- for more advanced users, modify your /etc/hosts
file to translate a cvs.freetype.org directly
to 193.251.34.63
note that on Windows 95/98, it's possible to
do the following too:
* copy the file C:\Windows\HOSTS.SAM to
C:\Windows\HOSTS
* add the following line to C:\Windows\HOSTS:
193.251.34.63 cvs.freetype.org
* restart Windows 98
this method bypasses the DNS and allows you to
work directly with the new server. Note that you'll
probably need to remove your change when your
DNS servers have been updated..
And by the way, ViewCVS is back at:
http://www.freetype.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi
Regards,
- David
