Yes, this is of course another possibility.  BTW, can you elaborate on
the differences (or give a link) between git and hg?

  
Looks like both doing their work well, but for me hg has some advantages - it's really easy to learn,
most things just work, very good help (hg --help and hg command --help)
it has clean design, written in python (and some critical parts in C)

it works on windows (not important for me, but i guess important for freetype)

hg also tries to be backward compatible as much as possible
