Somehow I didn't see the implications then...

OK, so the layout in the git repository will be

  include/
    ft2build.h
    freetype/
      config/
      internal/
      freetype.h
      ...

and after installation the `include' will be renamed to `freetype2'
(and `internal' won't be installed at all).
