Mhmm, just think of grid-aligned stems and (almost) symmetrical
sidebearings that make the advance width very near to the linear
advance width – this would be subpixel warping *with* fractional
advance widths.  I see absolutely no reason to limit warping to
integer advance widths.  Actually, I thought that you are suggesting
to extend warping into this direction...
