[Freetype] apply transformation to get styles

Dear all,
I have just subscribed to this list and I have a newbie question.

I already read that with FreeType library styles (Italic, Bold) can be
simulated by transformations but while I found some examples for Italic
I haven't found examples for Bold.

Have someone tried to get Bold from a normal font?
If yes can you give me an example of transformation matrix you use?
