By the look of thing your bittorrent client is a command line. To make
life a lot more straight forward I would say to use a gui bittorrent
client to get a better intro into torrenting. One main point too point
out is if you are behind a router you will need to port forward to your
local machine. Torrenting at the beginging can be confusing but it will
grow on you.

gui torrent client:
aptitude install bittornado-gui

exellent command line torrent client
aptitude install rtorrent
