Hi Camm
... 1 ...
GCL (GNU Common Lisp) (2.6.1) Fri Feb 20 16:31:57 UTC 2004
GCL source licensed under GNU Library General Public License
This binary licensed under the GPL due to the inclusion of
the following external GPL'ed features: unexec, libbfd, readline
Modifications of this banner must retain notice of a compatible license
Dedicated to the memory of W. Schelter
... 2 ...
GCL source licensed under GNU Library General Public License
except for unexec, libbfd and readline
which are under GNU General Public License.
... 3 ...
OK, while I agree with this, it has also made clear
the other poster's point that it is simply too long.
Can anyone think of some accurate terse phraseology
that will fit into two lines max? How about
Source License: LGPL(GCL), GPL(unexec,bfd)
Binary License: GPL -- GPL'ed external components (unexec, bfd, readline)
How about emacs like style?
GNU Common Lisp (GCL) 2.6.1, Fri Feb 20 16:31:57 UTC 2004
Copyright (C) 2004 Camm Maguire.
GCL comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; type `*warranty*' for full details.
GCL is Free Software; type `*copyright*' to see conditions.
In memory of Dr. William Schelter
and then put in the above complete text (1, 2 & 3 in some nice combo)
into the *copyright* variable, and a disclaimer in the other?
Who is the copyright owner(s)? Shouldn't they be mentioned?
I put you in as an example.
While we are at it: How about a (-quiet|-silent) option to
completely turn off the banner? And -no-init and -no-sys-init
to turn off loading of initfiles?
Well, just as long as it can be turned off by an option,
I don't think it matter how long it is.
Agreed. Will do this, but how about tying to :ansi-cl
in *features*?
Yes, please.
Yours,
Dennis Decker Jensen
