My checks were to quick: Navigation's not ok. Anybody else with the same
symptoms ?
First of all, cd .. by mouse or keyboard needs unusual long time, especially a
cd back to toplevel (/) needs 2-3 seconds. Normally not recognizable
microseconds. I got the impressions the deeper in hierarchy the less delay.
That could mean something is doing recursive lookups. I can hear a short
intense harddisk activity, for every cd. At very first run, gcmd even crashed
and i had to kill -9. I catched this strace snippet though i doubt it can help:
poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=3, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}, {fd=8,
events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=22, events=POLLIN}], 4, 125) = 1
ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [32]) = 0
read(3, "p\2on\214\375\276L\1\4\4\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\4\4\4\4\4\0\0"..., 32) = 32
gettimeofday({1173813656, 974667}, NULL) = 0
write(3, "address@hidden", 8) = 8
read(3, 0x7ffff4b508e0, 32) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)
poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 1, -1) = 1
Another thing is, I can't change the pane with tab anymore. The other keys seem
to work though. This could be unrelated, of course (i fiddled with the USB
ports and BIOS before, to get the USB keyboard working at boottime) but
anything else seems to work normal: I checked with mc in gnome-terminal, gedit,
gqview, and firefox. All file choosers and all keys are ok. No delay. And no
FAM at all. It's probably no gnome-vfs bug.
Attached:
* lsof -p while crashed (before blowing SIGTERM)
* zip archive with full debug options (excerpts):
(1) mouse navigation, diving from toplevel into homefolder and back
(2) the same with key navigation
My laptop is busy defragmenting 50G over USB lowlevel 8} but i will compare
that tomorrow.
