Have to agree with Steph there, there shouldn't be too strong an emphasis in
combat as that's not the only way to win the game.
In my opinion you should be free to use any backstory you want or even make
one up yourself, it's your campaign after all. Because there's no official
campaign, there's no official backstory to the game. If your campaign
becomes official, then I guess so does your story.

There is no concensus yet on which story to choose.
I personally like the DDR's version because it would be easy to work on
the
story line with it. The reason for fighting is right there, for example.
And the text has been written in a way that it is easy to copy pasta it
to
the campaign description. Okay, that's just lazy. :)
Well, feel free to choose whatever background you want. DDR's is not bad,
but
slightly overpowers fighting. In glob2, fighting is nothing if you cannot
manage
your colony. So I would change this sentence from DDR's version:
"A simple form of evolutionary pressure came to bear on the globs,
in that
those who fought better lived to reproduce."
to
"A simple form of evolutionary pressure came to bear on the globs,
in that
the colony who were more sustainable could expand and reproduce."
Have a nice day,
Steph
