Don't bring TimelineInfo in or the discussion will never end :)

I belive what Udo meant by "fails on simple rendering tasks" is what
happens with opengl.
OpenGL backend does not even expose the required interfaces to make
automated testing work, this is the only reason for 'make check' to 
succeed when building with OGL renderer.
It's not just "quality", it's "correctness".
