  Yes, it is the correct behavior. Linking to $HOME/.kde isn't any
different than writing the actual files, and writing to system
directories requires one to be root, which isn't good either.

  No, that's the point of using DESTDIR for installation, which we
already do. distcheck sets DESTDIR as well, so there is no problem with
an existing installation. Installing into system directories isn't right
either. The way I have it now I'm convinced is the correct way to
install klash/kparts.
