Follow-up Comment #11, bug #38084 (project gnash):

I merged your test in the testsuite, as an expected failure.
If you read it (test2 in testsuite/misc-ming.all/XMLSocketTest.as) you'll see
that the "alternate this" idea is likely to fail because the proprietary
player doesn't seem to be calling any of the events
(onConnect/onData/onClose).

Can you confirm that ?
In order to test the proprietary player you need a standalone debugging
version of it and substitute the gnash call line with flashplayer in
XMLSocketTester (generated in build tree, under testsuite/misc-ming.all)
