Will probably be in main repo soon, but some more testing couldn't hurt.

(1) Make the below 4-line stanza your
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/network-manager.list file

(2) Run this command:
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver pool.sks-keyservers.net \
--recv-keys 7E2BF282

(3) apt-get update

(4) aptitude dist-upgrade

(5) comment out any mention of eth0 and wlan0 from /etc/network/interfaces

(6) shutdown -r now

Next login you should have the upgraded 0.7 network-manager, which seems
to work much better than 0.6. You'll also want to be using the
2.6.32.1-libre-lemote linux previously posted by Mr. Olivia.

# /etc/apt/sources.list.d/network-manager.list
# apt-key adv --keyserver pool.sks-keyservers.net --recv-keys 7E2BF282
deb http://config.fsf.org/packages/ gnewsense-metad network-manager
deb-src http://config.fsf.org/packages/ gnewsense-metad network-manager

Tried it with kernel 2.6.31.6-libre1. When I boot and log in everything is peachy: it connects with wired interface OK and when I unplug that I'm immediately connected to wifi. However, if I log out and back in again it's not so good. It takes a while for the applet to appear and when it does it doesn't connect to anything. If I click it it takes more then 30 s to show the list of networks (I can move the mouse but GNOME doesn't respond during this time). When the list finally pops up it has no connections in it. Right-click menu also takes a long time to pop up. When I reboot, everything's fine again.
