Hi Doran!

in this case, would you mind going off list, at least until you've

tla-grab and worked out some specific goals?
Sure; I have plenty of research to do at this point.
I don't like to flame, but DNS-SD, mDNS are _not_ relevant to arch as
they
deal with network-layer services. Another layer (a "well-known URL",
if you
can interpret that in the same way as "well-known service") will join
that to
tla grab and then you're back on topic.
Well, that's still not clear to me, especially with the discovery that
DNS-SD does actually define a mechanism for registering URLs as
services, as well as other kinds of metadata. So it really is sensible
to refer to an arch archive URL as an "arch service" in the sense that
DNS-SD is a "service discovery system." It may remain the case that
"tla grab" is the appropriate integration point, but I would expect the
conversation as to a) whether that's the case, and b) if so, how it
should be designed, to occur here.
On the other hand, mDNS clearly is irrelevant to the discussion apart
from being the answer to the question "how do you reach your goal of
configurationless operation?"
(on a positive note, I look forward to seeing tla grab married to a
standard,
lower-level service and the concept maturing as a result)
Thanks--I'm heartened by the interest in the general subject and look
forward to learning about tla grab and how all of this might come
together.
D.
Best regards,
Paul
