BTW, one interesting note is that emacs' tar-mode apparently does the
tar-file parsing itself, because if you try to visit an arch tar-file in
emacs you get very odd output (full of entries like address@hidden', so it
seems pretty likely that's the problem).

Gotta fix that up one of these days, it's a bit of shock to actually have to
untar _into the filesystem_....
