On a linux-2.6.0-test2 based tree (~200MB) and name tags, I get these
results with a Pentium 2Ghz, i845 chipset, 256MB DDR:
time tla inventory --tags --source --both --all >/null
cold:
real 0m4.251s
user 0m0.400s
sys 0m0.340s
warm:
real 0m0.989s
user 0m0.350s
sys 0m0.210s
Stupid question I admit but perhaps your machine is just a bit short
on memory and starts swapping?
