If your OS supports POSIX ACLs, that's likely the easiest way to do it
-- you can use a default acl such as "d:g:users:rX" to specify (for
instance) that the default permissions for all files created under that
directory include read access for members of the group users.
Alternately, it would be easy to have a wrapper such as fai change the
umask around whenever calling out to tla.
