Hi, 

  this is just my 2c, I am quite new to GNU-arch too. 

  Here at my company we moved to tla some two months ago, but had to drop it 
because we found it to be too buggy/problematic. Problems with permissions 
only gave cryptic errors and we found ourselves spending too much time with 
the tool, until we found Bazaar (http://bazaar.canonical.com).

  Bazaar is just another implementation of the same version control system 
with a better (at least to me) interface. tla projects can be easily moved 
to bazaar. And it works.

  Here we do something similar, we maintain a main branch, the changes of 
which, we propagate to many other branches, and merging works well.

  Merging of branches should do this for you, but moving stuff between 
projects cannot be done directly, at least to my knowledge.
