And so says Thomas Lord on 07/09/05 08:24...

Now that's entirely unfair. They tried - TWICE - to follow this part,
but you were simply "not there" for reviews. What would happen is

- code is posted for review
- from two weeks to a month later, it was merged in the "integration"
branch which was what everyone who cared about bugs was using anyway
- two more weeks later you'd show up pointing at the code in the
"integration" branch (not the patch sent for review) saying it was
poorly done, often not explaining how.

Meanwhile bugs would remain unfixed (except in that branch).

I don't know what is your definition of code quality, because the "poor"
code you often attacked was the only usable alternative, compared to the
bug-rotten official releases.

They have a big project, with over two dozen developers using arch on a
daily basis. And they were already forced to use the "integration"
branch to be able to work. So one day they got fed up and released that
branch under a different name. That's what happened, your imagination
notwithstanding.

I can't even parse this part - but from what little I understand, I'm at
awe at how you're able to read Mark's and Rob's mind without even having
interacted with them in person. I did interact with both of them, and I
can't claim to know now what they plan to do in an year or two.

best,
