I never said "democratic" leadership is free software projects is
*useless*. I just said it's not *important*, for the actual freedom of
software users (or developers).

In purely practical terms, it does have some advantages -- but major
drawbacks, too. I'm not at all convinced that "democratic" projects are
more effective or less frustrating in general -- in my experience it
tends to be the opposite. I probably wouldn't choose one project over
another because it's more "democratic".

(I would usually choose a community-driven one over a vendor-driven
one... But that's an entirely different matter.)
