trying to understand why GNU GO 3.5.4 did lose against 3.5.3 i have let it
analyse (-- replay ) some of the games GG 3.5.3 played against HT2003.

One problem is that the moves played during the games (or the analyse)
often are different that those played when just analysing the position .
(i believe this is because of the persistent cache).

However , some moves   are similarly played.
