If we are to release 3.5.6 (say tomorrow) is there any objection
if I commit large_scale_5_1.1e?

The patch has no effect unless you configure --enable-large-scale
or give the command line option. It has a known problem that was
discussed in connection with arend:9 but despite this it is an
interesting patch.
